nderstanding The Word "Service"
Understanding The Word "Service"
When we go out at night for dinner or if we take out car in to be repaired, there is one thing that we expect for the dollars that we spend everyday, Service!
It becomes questionable today what people give the definition for this word. Webster's dictionary says that "service" is:"an act of helpful activity; help; aid: to do someone a service."
There are other definitions, but for the purpose of this article, the aforementioned definition is the one that we will use. Let's break it down into shorter statements. The first one is, "an act of helpful activity." How do you perceive this. Hopefully it is obvious enough that you see what I see and that is, answering a question in a helpful manner or holding a door open for someone who is carrying a bunch of bags.
The second portion of the definition is, "aid: to do someone a service." In my opinion, I see this to be the type of action I would get when I have my car looked after. Although there are more, the two that I have set out here show us how "service" can be either a mental act or a physical one.
When we are talking the internet, and we are "offering a service", what category would you put it under. Well this would all depend on what it is that your site offers to your customers right? Some of you will be offering to physically do a process like, building a web page or setting up a activity site.
On the other hand, your site may be that of a teaching site and therefore your service is more a information service. You offer new students the opportunity in the form of information. In the end, you may have some physical things that they can print out but for the most part, it is informative in nature.
Now, how we offer these services to our customers depends on how you feel about your business. Will you be the type to offer your information in such a way that it is received by your customer or student in a positive manner, or have you found yourself lately making your information more of "statement" as apposed to offering information.
It is important when it comes to servicing your site and your customers that we know the difference. Remember, the following statement:
Service is making sure the customer is happy and satisfied, Not that you are correct!, they deserve both! If you are in to reading more in the area of service and how it should be used, you are welcome to have a look at this article.
